Headed back inside with the newly obtained clothes, Tyr caught the end of Hex's tail as it disappeared downstairs. He wondered about it as he continued up to the next level, placing the outfit carefully in his designated quarters. He paused a moment more, fingering the fine texture of the cloth before deciding to quell his curiosity.
Taking the steps easily back down, he wondered what might have caught the others interest. He hadn't been down to the basement yet, all he knew about them was what he had offered to their new arrival, X'enodrove; that they were dark and below the ground. Making the final decent Tyr's sensitive nose twitched at the stale air. Seeing nothing of particular interest in the dim room, he moved closer, sliding up behind the figure that seemed to be inspecting the wall.
Hex would have jumped eight feet had the ceiling not been so low; as it was, he thumped back against the wall, horns clunking painfully and leaving scratch marks. The yelp that accompanied nearly echoed even in the small space.
Lowering his tail from where it had risen and become ready to slash, he took several deep breaths before managing to squeak, "...Tyr?"
A couple breaths later, he cleared his throat and managed something more like a response, stuttered as it was. "S- sorry. It, um. I dunno, we found this when we were down here last."
He took hold of the light around his neck and held it up to get a better look; a couple chips had come out of the cracked hole. "I think there's something back there."
Tyr himself jumped at Hex's reaction, not having realized that he would surprise the other. "No don't apologize." He held out both palms in a placating gesture. "It was completely my fault, I'm sorry for startling you."
Moving in closer again as their attention returned to the wall, he stepped next to Hex inspecting the hole himself. "Something back there you say? That's fascinating. Shall we open it up and take a look?"
"I'm not sure if we should," he started, then paused, fiddling with his light as he considered and allowing it to cast moving shadows on the wall.
"...If there was anything in there, it would have come out already. Right? There's no light, so there's no other way out, and... this has been here for a long time."
Again, hesitation, but not much of one, before he nodded.
Tyr was thoughtful for a moment before moving right up to the hole. He took a careful breath, trying to pick out any distinct scents, but wary of the poisonous gases that could sometimes build up in sealed rooms. He moved to look inside then, trying to shield his eye from Hex's light to see if he could spot anything
