Royal Millinery. The man might call himself a Hatter, but he was unmistakeably a soldier. Lady Kasuga used the word guardian, but she did not put enough weight in the statement to indicate that he had become a Guardian in the sense Leirian was familiar with. "I would not wish to offend you with such familiar address, Officer Miggx. Allow my use of your title to show my respect for the dedication and service with which you earned it. Please, take the time to refresh yourself," Leirian indicated the pantry. If Lady Kasuga did have further instruction for him, it would wait until the officer had eaten, and she felt more like all she wanted was a bath ( ... )

"I can fix a meal. It is likely that everyone will be hungry as they have just woken," Ares said calmly. "At the very least, water needs to be boiled."

She spared nods for the two young men as they joined the circle, avoiding a frown of annoyance at the casual attitude with which they intruded so suddenly on the discussion of important matters, and for the most part ignored their presence. She gave a small smile to Kororen however and handed the basket over, saying, "I pinned the fabric together at the places where it should be merged. I did my best to match the patterns."

She then gave another polite nod to the group before she moved to leave. "I will begin preparing breakfast now."

Thank you, young Kororen. For the kimono...and for Ghost. He was aware not long ago, but drifted back into the tree-sleep when I arose. He sounds stronger than yesterday. Granted, it would have been difficult for him to sound worse.

Niji hesitated for a moment, then decided. I would like to be there, when you bring him out. But as you say, I best claim the bath now before responsibilities snowball. "That would be most helpful, Lady Deville. I trust you can keep our young guests here occupied while I take a moment to wash the sleep from my eyes in the bath house." Niji smiled a bit thinly at the two young men and at ...Hatter, he wanted to be called. Whyever did so many of these people desire a false intimacy by sharing personal names so easily ( ... )

The Hatter offered another polite bow, feeling that he had been properly dismissed for the time being.

He straightened up and turned away from the ladies and Kororen, opting to approach the one named Flicker, instead.

"And good morning to you as well, good fellow. Sounds as if you're as famished as I am. What say we do our duty as gentlemen and give the ladies a break today? I, for one, would like to volunteer to prepare breakfast. Before you protest, Lady Deville, I must point out that you've been quite busy. Take this time to rest."

He glanced sidelong toward Flicker, smiling slightly. In invitation to help him with breakfast.

"I trust a bit of kitchen work isn't beyond your capabilities?"

"A hero should be able to do many things." Flicker grinned a bit. "Kitchens don't scare me." He looked pointedly at the fire grill set-up. "I'll be the first to admit that the only things I have cooked over a campfire are marshmallows and tofu dogs. But I can chop and stir and fetch with the best of them."

He smiled and bowed to the ladies. "As the good Hatter said, let us take care of breakfast. I promise it will be edible." In a softer tone meant only for Hatter's ears. "It will be edible, right?"
