Tina smiled wanly. "Thank you, Sierra. I'll be fine. I, I don't think your friend Damage likes me much. He started frowning as soon as he saw me."
She straightened herself up and smoothed down the T-shirt. "I'm just not used to such things yet, I suppose. And the breeze was a bit nippy with nothing on my legs." She grimaced at her appearance. "I suppose my most immediate need is for a bit more clothing. Fit is going to be such a challenge. And well, my sewing is rudimentary at best. Tacking flowers on costumes and the like. Making clothes is a bit more daunting."
Sierra smiled reassuringly. "I don't know that he dislikes you personally. I haven't known him that long, but he doesn't seem to have an easy time being friendly. I'm surprised he is willing to help us, but I am grateful."
"As for more clothes . . . yeah. I've mostly been washing my clothes when I wash my body, and wearing a dress I found in Odessa'a box while they dry. I've only got one good pair of proper underthings," she sighed. "I might be able to figure out how to make a sewing machine, but I don't know the first thing about how to make clothes clothing-shaped." She chuckled deprecatingly.
Tina laughed a little. "Then we are about the same when it comes to tailoring." She jingled her handcuff remnants. "Due to circumstances I left behind on Earth," wow, that sounded strange, "my clothes were, shall we say, inappropriate."
"I'd been wondering about that," Sierra admitted. "You hardly act like a convict, though I am well aware that perfectly nice people can be arrested for opposing people who are not so nice. If you feel you can walk more, we can go back down to the work-room and I can try to get those off of you, otherwise, you should probably sit down and rest."
"I know Booker at least knows how to mend. I've seen him patching his clothes. We could ask him to teach you when he's done with the new kid. Odessa might also know. And I guess maybe some of the houses might have old clothes, though it's anyone's guess what state the fabric is in."
Tina nodded and started walking to the work-room. "I suppose it would seem a bit suspicious. But no, no orange pajamas. I was in a cheap rip-off of my Titania costume. Ballet leotard, gauze skirt, horrible pointe shoes, all matched with these cuffs and leg restraints. I'd been kidnapped by an obsessed stalker who thought he was my baby's daddy."
She grimaced. "Trust me, there was no way a sane man would have thought that. But since Baby's father was not in the picture, this guy put himself in there instead."
Tina padded down the stairs. "Odessa got the leg restraints off, but she could only cut the chains on the handcuffs. Believe me, they are not exactly my fashion accessory of choice."
