Zee's request made him curious as to just what the handsome young man could do. So like a boy who just has to poke the snake, Sam edged closer to Zee. He was surprised to run into a sudden feeling of dread and reluctance. But when he took one step away, he felt an inexplicable urge to get closer to the man again. Zee was rather fascinating and attractive after all...
Sam stepped back inside the avoidance effect. Deep in the back of his mind Kitty murred with pure contentment. This time the emotion was not as strong and Sam found himself wanting to keep as close as he could to Zee. He gravitated into a comfortable equilibrium where the effects balanced themselves out. Sam fell into a disturbed silence.
For cripe's sake! Flicker was appalled at himself. Sure, Zee is good-looking, downright ( ... )

"Oh." He looked at Zee hurrying to give Richie a hug. "No, it can't be." That tug he had felt towrd Zee grew even stronger and he wanted to be in that hug as well, to soak in the comfort the man was giving out. Sam just couldn't give in to that, though. Not now.
"Rosa. It's not fair. This place just is not fair." Sam gave an inattentive pat to Pritz's head. Then he stopped thinking at all. Despite the pull toward Zee, Sam turned instead to the building and walked into the rubble with a deep breath.
Maybe he could find her. Maybe she really wasn't dead, just unconscious. Maybe he could still be her hero.
The silence was deafening.

Quickly he pulled away from Zee and made quick steps to Flicker's side, grabbing his arm with a tug in order to stop him from continuing forward. He shook his head slowly, sadly at the man.
"Its not worth losing some one else."
