Glowing red eyes peered from the russet darkness, several dozen spots against the shadows. The rustling continued, but not for long as the woman crept forward, scattering the gimarats who'd come upon a prize and been loathe to leave it.
Something that matched the landscape perfectly, crimson-brown scattered in splotches across the rubble. A shred of clothing. Black fur.
A familiar blue-green cap.
And two red-and-white balls, small and insignificant, still attached to their wristband... and still attached to a wrist.
It only took a couple more feet to realize she'd stumbled across something terrible.
And one more tiny, hesitant forward to realize just what - or rather who - that something terrible was.
"Ohh... oh no..." she groaned, a boot sliding a little in the pooling drying crimson on the ground as her hand sought purchase on the nearby wall, gun falling to the ground, momentarily forgotten. Her other hand rubbed harshly over her face, covering her mouth as she willed bile to settle in her stomach and not rise as it so wanted to. The sight alone was horrid, but the smell that had already begun to rise wasn't much better.
"Ka... Katsu..." she breathed, burning tears pricking her eyes.
It took a while before she could even gain the composure to move again, let alone look at what was fully there. It wasn't just Katsu. It seemed two of his companions had gone down fighting as well.
She didn't understand. Why was he out there in the first place, where it was the most dangerous no matter who you were
