Hearing Zee whistling brought a huge grin to Ani's face as he made his entrance, and he followed the sound upstairs. "'Mornin', Zee," he greeted brightly. "Your Lady Kasuga has placed you in charge of myself and Mr. Crestwell for getting this place back in shape. You want me to fetch you some breakfast, since it's fair bustling out there?"
Zee glanced over his shoulder and shook his head. "I'll eat later, when things are less crazy. Get everyone started working, especially if I've been temporarily been declared the boss of this project."
Flipping open his journal, he handed Ani an inventory of projects that Zee had determined should or could be done. The ones on the top were more important but some of them were big, like removing the carpet. There was a nice wood floor under it that would be easier to keep clean.
"Pick something and work on it. There's certainly plenty to do."
"I hear ya," Ani agreed, looking at the list, while draining the last of his tea. He didn't have much experience cleaning non-ship spaces, but anything straightforward that just required a little care, muscle, or attention to detail, he considered himself equal to. Setting the journal down, he said "I can knock one of the big ones off the top of your list by tackling the carpet. Leaves yourself and Mr. Crestwell free for things requiring more skill and less brute force," he winked, since Zee would know well enough that Ani didn't resort to purely bruit force for much of anything. "Once he finishes eating, he knows where to report."
Without another pause, he made his way to the top most room on the corner of the building that was carpeted, and began his methodically OCD top-down removal of every scrap of ratty carpet in the building. It wasn't the hardest work, once he got a corner up, but it wasn't exactly easy either, and that meant it was enough to keep him distracted from the distressing thought that he was trapped on a

Progress pleased Zee and he bounced slightly, hugging his strange friend before taking his journal back and marking that Ani was handling that task. After the carpet was up, they could check the floor for any weak spots too. The walls and stairs were in good shape, part of why they chose this place. "Good. I'm glad that we've got someone covering that."
Zee himself was trying to decide between mending beds and trying to get the bakery at least functional as an eatery. The bakery part made better use of his skills. While this might not be a spaceship, he had experience with building kitchens in a tiny form and might to at least get a container-and-gravity sort of plumbing set up. The illusion of civilization would encourage diplomacy, rather than a regression to aggression.
The place was mostly clean but some corners still had dirt and debris, including under the sink. When he made it downstairs and considered his options, Zee just ignored it, laying on his back, trying to salvage enough plumbing to make something work.
