Sitting against the wall, intending to keep vigil on Hardy and make sure he actually did sleep, Dart actually became the one to doze off first, and Hardy found himself ill equipped to get any sort of rest after what had happened that morning. Tired as he was, irritated as he was, he simply couldn't get his mind to stop running in circles. Every question served to confuse him more, and every answer was unsatisfactory. He just couldn't pin down exactly what was bothering him, so everything wound up bothering him
( ... )
Breathing heavily, it took most of Hex's willpower to actually stop and pay attention to Hardy. Even more so to listen to what he said. It took him a second to process, hands clenched to cease their shaking at his sides before they jumped into expansive gestures.
"I don't know, she... she was with Penny and Rory-" He halted when he realized what his mistake had been. Ana and Rory, to put it lightly, hated each other. If Ana had done something, or worse, if Rory had done something, that meant a freak-out.
Ana could be anywhere.
But if she was anywhere, it could quite possibly have everything to do with Rory. He had to find him again.
Hardy had to repress the urge to groan. He didn't have to know just how much Rory and Ana despised one another to realize that if the other man had anything to do with Hex's sister's disappearance, he probably had everything to do with it. And unfortunately the whole library knew just how badly those two had it out for one another...
"Okay, we'll find him," Hardy agreed, refraining from groaning or verbalizing his own running commentary on the situation. They could berate Rory for it later. Ana was the first priority, "Where was he last? I will help you find your sister after we find him, I promise."
It was either stress induced insanity, or the older boy was being perfectly serious, and given Solluna's track record so far, Hardy was putting money on him being serious. As such, he didn't question the words, but still felt a tad unnerved by them.
All he cared about was getting one of their own back safely, and if that meant involving a dragon he wasn't about to argue.

He could feel himself winding tight like a rubber band. Hopefully, he wouldn't snap before they found Ana.
