Hardy was exhausted, and very nearly toppling over where he stood, but he was concerned about letting Adobe walk on her own. As he watched the medic wander away, heavy gun slung over a too-thin shoulder, he frowned, wondering just what it was about her that made such a frail body seem so unbelievably strong. He'd seen her there, at the base, barely able to sit up on her own volition, yet there was a fierceness in those oddly colored eyes of hers that just seemed to scream "I won't quit, no matter what."

She had must have been quite the soldier back on her home.

It was things like that, confidence and strength in not just her, but others he had met so far, that made him feel an unfamiliar pang of jealousy. He'd spent almost his entire life being a non-entity in the world he was supposed to be living in, and only in the past three years had he begun to exhibit something like human emotions upon finding out that he wasn't. There was some kind of fucked up irony in that, he was sure. Even so, he could do so little. Powers were limited, ( ... )

'She doesn't like it...' Simera whimpered against Micas' shoulder as she was carried, trying to somehow convey the urgency of the situation even as she was nodding off. 'Have to get rid of it...'

She'd been lulled to sleep by the warmth of Micas' body and the soft beating of her heart when she was set down into the pile of blankets, opening her eyes a crack and mumbling something incoherent before her eyelids fluttered shut again.

Rory came upon a scene of aftermath so extensive, it would take nothing short of a full construction crew to restore it, not that the building hadn't had it's structural discrepancies to start with ( ... )

Tyr was retying the cord that held the hanging gimacats when he heard Rory approach. Turning at the sound of his name he thought a moment before giving a response.

“There are several internal doors and some heavy desk and tabletops such as this one that would be suitable enough to form some basic defenses with.” He gestured to the tabletop by the library entrance that he had drug out earlier which had somehow survived the fighting intact. “In fact, if we could find the proper tools to remove them from their settings, there are public washrooms, one on each floor, that have strong metal doors and dividers which would provide an even greater defense.”

He glanced back over to the gimacats, then back to Rory. “We also need to finish preparing the meat before it begins to spoil. Micas should be returning in a moment and will most likely be willing to take on that task, but she might need some assistance.” Facing Linex he asked, “If you are planning to stay a while, would you be willing to help out with either of these tasks?”

Linex had been thoroughly confused by the gestures Micas had made in her attempt to communicate with him. So working with her was probably not the best idea. Not to mention he'd probably puke if he had to do the skinning...

But he was hesitant about his other option... but bathroon room stalls were usually light in weight. He'd probably be fine. But He really wanted to snoop in the books. Whatever happened here, the new in habitants needed to know. Plus knowing which plants were safe to eat would be good. Language might be hard, but that just made him eager...

Still, one thing at a time.

"If you need me, I'd be better at gathering metal objects. I would however, like to look over the books. There could be a guide or something we need to know. What's poisonous, what's not. This is a strange place, who knows what's out there." He indicated the outside for emphasis.
