[Nagi's handwritting is small and precise, with thick, strong strokes.]

For what purpose have they given us these journals? It will always be some people's prerogative to record their lives, of course. The question is, what benefit do they get from allowing us to log our lives here?

I think though Seimei's not here to tell me so or not that these things are some sort of spell. See, I write here and you will see this I think!

While I appreciate the misplaced helpfulness, I understood that already. My question is what the people running this city are getting out of giving these things to people. They're not getting paid like an internet service provider would be, and I hardly imagine it helps them in some way to have all their immigrant population in easy contact with one another.

It's not impossible that they're not getting anything in return. Is it a prerequisite that they have to?

Do you truly believe anyone does anything from the kindness of their heart? Everyone has a motive.

Of course I believe. While I would admit that some people would do things out of ulterior motives, there are others who simply do things out of altruism.

Altruism doesn't exist. Even doing something for a complete stranger or expecting nothing in return, you still do it because it makes you feel good about yourself.
