[Nagi's handwritting is small and precise, with thick, strong strokes.]

For what purpose have they given us these journals? It will always be some people's prerogative to record their lives, of course. The question is, what benefit do they get from allowing us to log our lives here?

arrival, distrust

I think though Seimei's not here to tell me so or not that these things are some sort of spell. See, I write here and you will see this I think!

While I appreciate the misplaced helpfulness, I understood that already. My question is what the people running this city are getting out of giving these things to people. They're not getting paid like an internet service provider would be, and I hardly imagine it helps them in some way to have all their immigrant population in easy contact with one another.

If you can tell me what part of that confused you, I can clarify.

Everything, I'm afraid. Though mostly I'm confused by what an internet service provider is.

The internet, or the world wide web, is a system that allows anyone in the world to communicate instantly, so long as they are hooked in. Internet service providers get people connected to the internet, i.e. they provide internet service. Basically these journals are like the internet, and the man who gave them to us is like an ISP. Further questions?

Which part has you confused now? I doubt I can make ISPs too much simpler than that.

Skipping the more technical explanation about networks and information packets, it is an system that stores whatever one person puts into it and lets it be accessed by anyone else.

Ah.

How does it do that?
