Late night BSG comment (because I really need to get my life back on track again starting next week...): This is what they turned Gaeta (at least semi-officially) gay for? They might just as well not have bothered. If nothing else, spectacularly bad timing.

Gaeta was gay? When? And with who? Huh. I must *really* have been distracted when I was watching that show (twice!).

LOL! That about sums the problem up.

Longer answer: Canonically in the webisodes 'Face of the Enemy' which were published on the internet during the writers' strike between the first and second part of S4 (but are chronologically set between the first two episodes of 4.2), where he's in a relationship with Lt. Hoshi, and calanthe_b told me the actor was playing him as queer from the start, which you can sort of see in his interaction with Balatar in S1 when they were working on the cylon detector, once you know what you're looking for.

But you're right, if you're only looking at the TV episodes it's barely even subtext, and what I find problematic is that FotE all at once outed him, and undermined his integrity, because it showed him cooperating with one of the Eights on New Caprica, giving her names and being wilfully blind to the fact that she wasn't rescuing them like she said she would, but having most of them killed. She confronts him with that, he kills her, and that triggers his part in the rebellion arc and in the end gets him ( ... )
