i was reading this naruto fic, and it was really cute and i was really liking it and it caused me to ruin my Go to Bed at a Reasonable Time mission, and it was all-around good times---and then came this paragraph:

Its coat shone a glossy coal-black, and its mane danced in the Konoha breeze, giving it a look of wildness. As Naruto came up beside it, ( Read more... )

well, not exactly commiserating here
but a horse is supposedly studly, you know
strong, macho men like horses (patrick swayze raises horses and he was mucho sexy in dirty dancing), well of course the brokeback thing sort of changed that image *winks* or perhaps awakened the possibilities of yaoi, that's all...

at any rate - that's why horses were supposed to be sexy.....

so... i guess that was the take off point.

you just dont have any equine interest perhaps...

and well, i dont know the naruto fandom all that much either... so the comparison does nothing to me...

yeah, i think horses are hot, too. i've got a centaur fetish, did you know? but actually literally getting shivers of desire from a horse, whose studly, challenging glare reminds you of your own stud, just reeks too much of beastiality for me to handle. LOL whew, i need a break from fanfiction after that.

but it isnt the horse, its the reminder of the horse
at least that's how i am reading it

not that i've ever shuddered over a horse
or a horse that reminded me of anyone
but, i was just taking the pov of the author
and as the guy (or whoever was in the fic you read) saw the horse, he was seeing the guy - the studly person,
there's a psych term for it, psych major, anyone, help with the term ---

transference or something?

anyway, it was in one of the journals i read so i figured the writer was using it....
then it isnt the horse turning him on, its the person he is seeing when he is looking at the horse

oh ... never mind.
i do understand the yuckiness.

it's like those people who find certain catholic practices funny - when they see people praying to say, a statue...
some people say and think that catholics are praying to idols... but nope, the person is praying to the God the image is supposed to represent.

*i better get off the defense pulpit now*

LOL i think you are too nice and give the author too much credit. i sympathize with: horse --> thoughts of lover --> arousal. (and that was obviously what the author really intended) but, because of the poor writing "cunning eyes" and "taunting challenge" attributed solely to the horse, i think it read more like this: horse --> arousal --> thoughts of lover. see what i mean, eh, eh? ::nudge nudge:: Beastiality.

(and yeah, i learned about transference in psych! main idea is that for some reason or another, if a person is unable to play out the emotions they are feeling directly to the person causing them, then they transfer the emotions to another person who they can act out their emotions on. so if the horse is not around, naruto can express his love unto sasuke, hahaha)

Very interesting to come and find on my flist first thing in the morning...

WHAT THE HELL?! *falls over dead* Naruto? A horse? NO! BAD FANFIC WRITER! *thwacks with a stick* That's...scary. Seriously, some of the things people can come up with.

Bestiality is WRONG, even if you think they look like your best friend that you've been hankering after since the beginning of time. NO NO NO NO!

*pats* I understand. Who could blame you?

And you'd have to wonder what Sasuke would think being compared to a horse...seriously.

O___O;; And did you see that someone fulfilled your request? I may still finish the one I started for you, but we'll see.

*cracks up*

I can't remember a particular time, but I do know I've experienced the same sort of disappointment when reading a really long, juicy fic. It's like WHAM! Should I even bother reading more?

So yeah, I feel your pain. But man, that paragraph! The horse! Oh dear.

Which is a highly appropriate response. *g* Laughter is what helps us keep our sanity intact in such situations. :D

But falling in love with a horse is OK if you're Harry Potter!, I mean, Daniel Radcliffe!, er.. A character in a play played by Daniel Radcliffe!

hahahaah, i had heard of that only in the context of: Omg, daniel radcliffe did a play where he got nekid!!

lol man, i just.....i suppose there are benefits to being psychotic, mainly that you experience a passion the likes of which those of us with logic have a hard time ever attaining or understanding. but seriously. i read the plot summary, and that shite is bananas!
