I really need to get my hands on Juno. I keep hearing good things about it.
They're cool, hip, they backpack for years together -- they're just THEMSELVES, but together.
Yeah, if I could find that, I think marriage would interest me more. But so many of the marriages I'm most familiar with aren't like that. So. Yeah. (Not to imply that guys have suddenly started pounding on my door with marriage offers. :P)

Yeah... I really have no interest in that. I don't understand it either. I can see how it can fulfill some shallow needs (I'm thinking of my parents here), but wouldn't you be happier single than in a claustrophobic marriage? A lot of people don't think that way though.

I also know at least one person who wants to get married because she wants kids. And there's certainly societal pressure to get married and have kids (another thing I don't want!), but . . . I think the world would be a better place if people didn't jump into marriage.
I haven't seen Juno yet, but you're like the 1,000,000th person who says it's awesome. I really want to see this movie now! :)
I totally agree with you about the marriage thing. When I was younger, I was almost positive I wasn't going to get married at all. Now I'm with someone who makes me feel so safe and comfortable, yet independent. It's nice. And one day, hopefully this year (if we can afford it) we will get married. :D But that whole thing where I'm ONLY into cleaning and diapers and cooking and dishes and crap and junk... hell effin' no!
"if marriage means that sort of 'woman with the perfect suburban house and matching furniture who is very invested in the cleanliness and upkeep of her home' ( very slight spoilers ) That is so my step-mother when I was in high school. If that is marriage? I have NO INTEREST."
That's not marriage - that's hiring a maid. It may have been marriage 50 years ago or something, but it's not marriage now, and if that's what anyone proposes to you - RUN the other way!
The type of marriage I mean (I don't mean to limit it to cleaning and stuff) I see all the time in my parents and others. Where there's a facade and play-making what looks like a happy life but really isn't. Etc.

The entire movie was very well done. The director must be very talented. :)
