I would love for Sam to appear to Alex (even just briefly), to help her on her journey, but I doubt that will happen.
I wouldn't worry about it. It will absolutely happen in Series 3. That would be the final series and it will wrap both shows up. At least 1 ep will have him there.

BBC is probably really gonna commission a S3 considering how the creators are currently outlining the stories. So they're pretty confident. ;)
