Not sure why I'm in an introspective mood, other than the fact that I've been running on empty for a month now, and tiredness begets strange thoughts, and this rather simple and old debate was brought up, and though I have never believed there is an exclusive answer (meaning I don't think one has to negate the other), I put it forth here

But, I guess if I really think about it, I'm not sure I'd want to be liked without being respected at the same time.
On the other hand, can you respect someone you don't like? I guess it is possible. Most people I respect, I also like...but I don't always respect the people I like.

But if there was someone pointing a gun to my head saying "Choose one", I think I'd go with respect. Simply because in the long run, IMO respect would lead to "like" :)
