Room 418. Saturday Night

Sep 03, 2006 16:52

Seely sat on his bed, rubbing ice over the bruise on his calf from that kinky redhead's psychotic pet, and listening to Parker's message about the band tryouts.

He wondered what was in the water at this school to make for all the crazy.

It's odd to knock on a door after so many days of opening them on the run without invite or the time to ask for one, but Door's not without manners.

"It's open," Seely called out, rather than leaving the comfort of the bed.

It's clearly not, but it's unlocked; Door assumes whoever's within means that as an invitation, and opens it the way ordinary people do.

"Hello?" she says to the boy on the occupied bed.

"Hi," Seely looked up and grinned. "No longer bleeding and unconcious girl."

Seely looked sick. "What kind of twisted freaks...?"

Another shrug. "No kind. There's nothing else quite like Croup and Vandemar. It's why people hire them."

"But why?" Seely asked. "You're just a kid."

"I don't know," she admits, leaning against an empty desk. "My family doesn't have any enemies. Didn't," Door corrects herself. "Apparently."

Seely blinked. A lot. "Just Seely'll be fine."

Then the rest of what she said caught up with him. "Slept?"

Door opens her eyes. "Sorry, I didn't mean I was going to sleep just yet. No need to stop what you're doing."

Seely had a very bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. "You were planning on sleeping here?"

"This is 418, yes?" She'll feel very stupid if after all that, she's walked into the wrong room. Though at least there was the chance to thank one of her rescuers.
