Ohh, amen to that! My entire journal started out based on the lack of personal responsibility shown by the people in my neighbourhood. It isn't just the protective parents; it is also caused by those parents who either can't cope with their own kids or just can't be bothered to.
When I was a kid, if someone caught me doing something bad and threatened to tell my parents... well, I knew that if I couldn't apologise enough to convince them not to, I was a dead kid walking. I could get a lesser punishment if I could get to my parents before they did and confess. They were great believers in personal responsibility.
Have things changed that drastically or were we just rare fairly responsible kids? Scary thought, either way. Thanks for the epic writing. It was a good way to start my day:)
Boy oh boy did you hit the nail on the head. God forbid Savannah or Hunter-'cause they all have trendy, yuppie names now, not Sue or John-be held accountable for their actions. GOD FORBID a teacher use *gasp* red ink, because of the connotation with *OMIGODRedInk* is that of failure (Hey dipshits, they got it WRONG. A flowery cheerful ink will not disguse the FAIL.). God forbid they can't just traipse thru life like it's a party all the time
