We're not yet in the "lets photograph together" stage of our relationship. I do, however, plan to take photos of her when she comes back, for my black and white portraits collection.

Cheater! No wonder you didn't want to get me that ring...

In all seriousness, though, I'm always interested in these things and since you're my first contact in Croatia, I'm going to ask you: how is homosexuality perceived in your society? Is it, more or less, accepted, or does it still carry a highly negative stigma?

Female homosexuality is accepted as long as both women are pretty and attractive by conventional standards of female beauty. If they are not, then it’s icky. Male homosexuality is wrong wrong wrong and they will all burn in Hell, the sodomites.

Seriously now, Croatia is a very Catholic country. Even "more Catholic" than the most Catholic country in Europe, which is Spain. Fake morals are found in abundance here. I’ve been lucky so everyone who knows I’m gay has been supportive. My family doesn’t know (my mother probably suspects, but doesn’t say anything about it - something akin to that river in Egypt, if you get my point). Generally, homosexuality is not accepted here, but I dare to say that things are getting better, slowly. I am glad to know many straight people who support gay rights, who are open minded and who have no problem seeing my relationship as equal to their own.

Interesting! So there's no sings of secularism in Croatia like there are in Spain? Religion is very much a part of life still? I find it absolutely fascinating how much the views on homosexuality (among other things) vary from one country to the next.
