[There's a bit of a static feed as the journal turns on, and Shiki doesn't say anything for a moment. She's busy reading over everything from the last few days, but she finally decides to talk to the village at large.]So. Hypothetical question. ...how long is too long to wait? I suppose the other question is if the person is waiting without doing anything or if he or she is able to move on in life while waiting.

They're keeping busy. It's kind of useless to just sit by the barrier and wait, right? But I would't call it really moving on.

I like the different decorations, like the carved pumpkins. We don't do those things back home. [pause] I guess the costumes are ... interesting, too.

You know what? You and I should carve pumpkins when it gets closer to Halloween. Maybe convince Haruhi to let the whole Brigade do it. What do you think?

So she's your partner. I totally get that...it's hard to imagine spending every day without that person to fall back on. Think she'll ever show up here?

[She's pretty sure what she's talking about is unrelated to the experiment from last year, but she spent her only Halloween ever shut up in her house going slightly mad with her best friend, also going slightly mad, as they tried to keep at least one of them sane enough to look after a little kid with the limited aid of an unreliable amnesiac.
Yeah, it wasn't much fun, and the question more or less fills her with slight dread.]
