[Data has noticed that Sherlock Holmes had taken to staying around the art room. He hasn't thought much of it, besides... well... now he likes to glance into the art room more. And as per usual there he is, down to his shirtsleeves and about to busy himself.
Not wanting to interrupt, he peers inside and eyes Mr. Holmes. If he wants to ask, though, he needs to. Who knows how busy he might be on Christmas day.]
Mr. Holmes? [He clears his throat needlessly to get his attention, standing in the door. He's wearing one of his nicely tailored three piece suits with tie rather than a cravat, but it's still enough to be recognizably well dressed.]
[Not quite painting anything in particular, Holmes has been acquainting himself with the feel of these new, subtly different materials. He's painted an orchid, the outline of a face, some leaves, and what might be a bridge, all shapes and lacking detail, when he hears his name and looks up sharply. Not quite startled so much as alert, Holmes' eyebrows lift slightly upon recognising his visitor.]
Lieutenant Commander. [His tone is almost warm, and switches to needlessly dramatic.] Welcome to my interim domain.
[Sherlock Holmes can be as dramatic as he pleases. It appeases Data's mental perceptions of him in those ways, and he's glad for it.
He goes over to greet him.] There's a particular piece of music that requires accompaniment I would like to perform again. If you've the time, I wish to request the opportunity to make the attempt with you. I would ask Erik, but I worry I may inadvertently offend his sensibilities.
[Holmes returns to his painting, paying attention to Data but not appearing to do so. He pauses, turning to the side and pursing his lips, running the name through his immediate mental database.]
Erik...Erik. [He frowns in annoyance. He huffs, turning to face Data.] At any rate, yes, I should be honoured to accompany you. I admit myself curious to your talents.
