Would You Like That With a Side of Frustration?

I guess I decided to make that extra entry after all.

I've had a lot of thoughts in my head lately about losing weight. I have a co-worker who is currently doing Jenny Craig. This is in the midst of my own personal struggle with weight loss (and gain), so it has struck a particular chord with me. After loosing all those pounds in May, and since ( Read more... )

It'll sound strange, but - does your place have air conditioning? This is the first summer I've lived in a NON-air-conditioned place, and I seriously want to eat salad all day. I don't know if it's feasible since you live with other people, but maybe even turning the thermostat up a few notches could do the trick. Obviously that alone isn't enough, and if you don't do anything else it could just be another yo-yo diet, but it could potentially be that extra encouragement for your body to eat better. I'm the biggest snack food and chocolate fiend I know and even I'm forgoing my snacks for cold tea and veggies.

If you can't change anything about the status of your air conditioning, just being outside a lot (even if you are just sitting and reading) could help too. It sounds simplistic... but for me it holds true.

As far as equipment goes you could go to a gym but you could swing it by using www.trainwithmeonline.com (great fitness advice, check out the excersizes) and getting yourself a pilates ball, proper running shoes (i.e. if you roll your feet inwards or outwards when running, respectively known as pronating and supernating, you'll need the appropriate support so you don't fuck your knees, ankles, and back around) and a few weights. You don't even need to buy weights, you could use milk jugs filled with water or sand. I'd highly recommend the pilates ball because you can do a lot of effective core excersizes which will give you the beach body you're probably after. You can also increase the difficulty of something like a bench press/press-up using dumbells if you lie on the ball instead of a plank, the idea being you're balancing your own weight which engages your core rather than letting the weight rest on something else letting your core rest ( ... )

Another fun fact: it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to loose 1lb.
