Seung-ri’s fingers catch over his as he walks past. It’s a small touch, so chaste that it’s hardly even there and for a moment, Young-bae thinks that he might have just imagined it - but then Seung-ri looks over his shoulder and there’s a small, secret smile curving gently on his lips.
“You,” he mouths silently, before he turns a corner, and he’s gone.
Young-bae lies awake at night thinking about small touches like that. It’s a constant innuendo, because he and Seung-ri are still at almost, and he wonders sometimes if the other boy expects him to charge and take lead. He won’t, of course, he’s not like that. He’s cautious, Seung-ri knows.
“I want to be your boyfriend,” Seung-ri insists. “I bet I would be really good at that.”
But Young-bae is cautious.
It’s not that he doesn’t trust Seung-ri. The boy is far too smart to play with Young-bae’s heart, and far too sweet, but maybe it won’t work. Maybe the other boys will disapprove. Maybe they will have to sneak around forever and keep kissing when no one is looking. And that’s not cool.
“It’s okay,” Seung-ri says, “I don’t mind being your dirty little secret…”
Young-bae shakes his head, because Seung-ri deserves more than that. He thinks that he wants to tell the entire world just how many butterflies take flight when Seung-ri’s hand slip into his; how his lips tingle at the mere idea of kissing his Seung-ri… His Seung-ri.
He’s allowed to think that way, he knows that Seung-ri does it, too, it shows again and again.
Stay up for your Seung-ri, Seung-ri texts him half past ten but Young-bae can’t. He tries to, but he falls asleep before midnight and Seung-ri comes back to a quiet house, a dark room. Even in his dreams, Young-bae feels bad about it, and when sleep transfers into a reality of soft kisses to his stomach, he opens his eyes to more of that guilty feeling.
“What are you doing?” he whispers, and Seung-ri comes out from under the covers.
“I’m showering you with love!” Seung-ri grins and his lips trail over Young-bae’s face, mapping out the familiar features.
“I’ll drown.”
Seung-ri sits up, and the covers fall off. “No. No, you won’t. I’ll keep you afloat! I’m like a life vest. Except I’m not orange. You know, I read somewhere that orange really attracts sharks, isn’t that weird? I mean, in that case life vests should be neon or something, because who wants to get eaten, right?”
“Seung-ri.”
The younger boy falls over, snuggling into him. “I know, I know, let’s sleep.” His body is warm: one arm, one leg across his hyung. “I locked the door, I swear no one will know.”
Young-bae opens his mouth, but Seung-ri hugs the guilt away. “At least let me be your boyfriend when nobody knows,” he murmurs and Young-bae throws his arms around him.
“I will know,” he says and Seung-ri smiles.
“Yeah, I was kind of hoping you would.”
End.
