The good and the bad

Good: I'm over 5,000 words in my Pony Express story, which is more than half of what's needed for Big Bang. And I'm rockin' and rollin' on it right now, so I should be able to churn out a couple thousand more words this week, putting me darn close to being back on track, word-wise.

Bad: I have 15 file cards that roughly outline the plot arc I had

LOL! I hope folks will like it. I'm actually really getting into writing a western AU; I'm not usually that fond of westerns but this is turning out to be a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to reading what you've got. I don't think I'm going to be able to take my bigbang story as far as I wanted to, either, and will have to make it a series also. It took me a year to write A Sea-Change, and that ended up over 100,00 words. No way will I have the time to get anywhere close to that.

When you think about it, 10,000 words isn't really all that much - it seemed like a whole lot more when I had about 100. Now I'm thinking, "holy crap, how is it that I managed to use up half my words and haven't really gotten anywhere plot-wise?"

I loved A Sea Change so much, so I'm very excited to see what you do for Big Bang!

Heh. I'm just kind of shocked that I had that much plot - it didn't seem like it when I started writing. Hopefully all this pre-Pony Express exposition won't bore the socks off people. :-)

A series doesn't sound bad at all. It sounds very good.

I was going to use my Moonridge story for the Big Bang, but a month or so ago I looked at another one that had been sitting dormant for a year with barely 1000 words done, and it's close on 12000 now. Whether I get it finished in time, though, is another matter :-) Well, if I don't, I can hold it for next year's Moonridge.
