Subbed version here - some differences in lyrics, like "you're no fun, you've no manners" and Taeyeon's line about the contacts list. Kinda seems like the Korean version is a little more damning than the Japanese version (i.e. during the breakdown, Taeyeon and Sooyoung's "Told you not to fool around, told you to behave while I love you" was ( Read more... )

Can't stop laughing at dramatically speedy panning camera. I was convinced it could only move from left to right and then was surprised when it showed it could even move the other way! Amazing!

Just watched it once. I think the girls look pretty--and really mature, which is what struck me first--as well as possibly shrinking in size with those outfits, but the song itself sounds more subdued to me. I think after all the angry Korean RDR lives, I keep expecting the song to be much angrier sounding, especially the faux rap parts. Here it was kind subdued to my ears, which confused me. Also, good lord did the track drown Hyo out during her line.

It's okay, Hyo, I've just accepted that you're like an extra appendage in this group, like an octopus that grew an extra limb and doesn't know what to do with it.

I know right! XD I think SM (or should we be blaming Avex?) likes those kind of gimmicks - I mean, they played around with the Matrix effect with so many of their MVs xP

The first time I watched it, I liked it, but felt like something was off. Then I rewatched the original MV and couldn't watch the PV without getting frustrated xP The song does sound more subdued and I feel like we're getting a lot more of the background vocals.

Definitely! It feels like a step backwards which really is confusing.

Veeeeeery interesting. I never watched the original MV all the way through or with any focus because I was really disappointed by the lack of story so I got to watch both the PV and MV with fresh eyes today. The MV has some short moments that are extremely memorable but I think overall I prefer the PV more.
The PV seems to be in higher HD or something?(Or the MV has lots of blur filters) It seems a lot clearer than the MV. The same thing happened with TMYW vs. the 3D version.

My bias probably stems a lot from how I can't not associate the MV with Star Wars. XD Stormtrooper white outfits with Sith Lord hoodies? Plus that "TIE Fighter cockpit window" from the teaser. XD Whereas none of the PV outfits or visuals set off my snark meter that way. Yes, the white outfits are still weird, but they don't have that bit sticking out at the bottom that drove me NUTS about the original stormtrooper getups.(Although heh, boobs) In the vein of "MV more memorable but PV more pleasant", despite my liking the PV outfits more the MV gangsta clothing ( ... )

I think I preferred the hand-sync focus of the original.
