shinjirei here.. forgot my password and is too lazy

been a long time since i've visited... my favs are soul & mr.mr. the rest didn't leave much of an impression.
first impression of mr.mr is that the drop in the chorus is a little weird?. but this song grows on you. after my 2nd 3rd listen i'm starting to really like it. but it's still a very good for me and not at the awesome level.

and greay this is how the choreo for soul will look like:

the song actually have a choreo already (a lazy attempt for me) as this was supposed to be the ost for some chinese game. it was 1st released in chinese. and i think it's written by the ppl who wrote genie....

That's a rehearsal, right? They look so tired. D: D: D:

Ah, I was hoping for something like TVXQ's Maximum choreo. Ah well. Dream Concert RDR intro style is still okay, I guess.
The downside of all of the girls being so successful individually is that they can't do really interacting-parts formation work, (never knowing when they might be a few people down, and so keeping most) which would be one way for the dance to keep up with the fast pace of the song.

The EP is still completely true to SNSD formula. It's just less shitty-mediocre than before.

AH now I finally recall what the "Ne" portions of the song remind me of. Secret's Madonna!

No it's a performance. Just last year Nov I think. The song wasn't to be promoted n they're just doing a one off performance for this game launch event so I guess that explains the lazy choreo.. the 'ne' portions seemed the be 'now' haha..

I agree, Mr Mr would be Genie's spiritual successor, but somehow, it's missing something. It's a pleasant, solid track (if a bit forgettable) but it's lacking a punch. I thought I'd get it after the dance break, but I think it could've been better if there was more "organised chaos" at the end. That part is almost too controlled; so it comes off as a "fizzled bang" instead of the bonfire it could have been ( ... )

Have I ever complained about word vomit!? MORE, I SAY. MORE.

This is what Mr. Mr. reminds me of, especially the strings. And yeah, that's one of the less memorable songs on the OST, and is literally just driving music in the game.

Ironically, being a spiritual successor to Genie might be the song's downfall. If they had gone with a less flowing arrangement, and more of a swinging beat instrumental like Mirotic's, (which does not have rougher synths, but keeps the emphasis on distinct rhythms) the melody would come off less transient.

Telepathy left me cold, and in general, SNSD's songs in this mold are pleasant to me, but lose their luster really quickly. Express 999 had that Kenzie-weirdness that stood out. Europa still has that album-filler sheen to it.

Which anime theme songs!?

"As with IGAB, I really want to hear the demo version."

this is a bit old (I just randomly was linked here) but the IGAB demo is by Katy Tiz called "Shiner On U". it's on youtube somewhere if you wanted to take a listen. It explains Tiffany's beginning ad-libs, that were so contrasting compared to the Korean lyrics, content wise.

Hey anon, welcome to our little corner of fandom.

I've heard "Shiner on U," and that contrast is exactly why I'd like to hear the original version of Mr. Mr.
It always highlights intriguing differences between American/Western and Asian sensibilities in what kind of attitudes they prefer to portray in pop music. (Most of the well-known same-song comparisons have the same differences: Mirotic/Under My Skin, SNSD's RDR / Ke$ha's, Deal With It /Juliette, TMYW / Just Wanna Dance)
