I agree, Mr Mr would be Genie's spiritual successor, but somehow, it's missing something. It's a pleasant, solid track (if a bit forgettable) but it's lacking a punch. I thought I'd get it after the dance break, but I think it could've been better if there was more "organised chaos" at the end. That part is almost too controlled; so it comes off as a "fizzled bang" instead of the bonfire it could have been.

Goodbye works for me; it's a nice surprise. Something about their voices blending so smoothly, and the harmonies I suppose. The girls are singing comfortably here so there's that. It gets the balance right in terms being upbeat without sounding cutesy (as they are prone to). Hyo, Jessica and Seohyun sound fantastic too.

Europa is sort of the lovechild of Telepathy and Express 999. Very SNSD, and exactly the kind of song I expected on this mini. They're not forcing the cute, so there's a plus. It's an ok song, slightly bland.

Wait a Minute is the saccharine number I was expecting but delivered with bubblegum pop vibes. It's different for them I suppose, reminds me a little bit of Pixie Lott. It's listenable enough.

Back Hug is their "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman". At least it's more an R&B ballad than the typical Korean type. They sound good here, and their voices sound strangely wistful in the chorus. I grew to like it. An easy listen as opposed to Promise on the IGAB album.

Soul is cheesy. It sounds an anime theme song (huh, ain't that appropriate) and like they're always rushing. It's ok, but by god, I wish they'd stop Tiffany "rapping". It's messy, but it could've been worse. Good transitions though.

Wow, apologies for the word vomit. The mini is a lot better than I expected tbh; quite a surprise.

Have I ever complained about word vomit!? MORE, I SAY. MORE.

This is what Mr. Mr. reminds me of, especially the strings. And yeah, that's one of the less memorable songs on the OST, and is literally just driving music in the game.

Ironically, being a spiritual successor to Genie might be the song's downfall. If they had gone with a less flowing arrangement, and more of a swinging beat instrumental like Mirotic's, (which does not have rougher synths, but keeps the emphasis on distinct rhythms) the melody would come off less transient.

Telepathy left me cold, and in general, SNSD's songs in this mold are pleasant to me, but lose their luster really quickly. Express 999 had that Kenzie-weirdness that stood out. Europa still has that album-filler sheen to it.

Which anime theme songs!?
