Oh, understandable. It's taken me four months and a considerable amount of heartbreak and headache to get through my rewatch, and that's even when I know what's going to happen (so why do I still find myself glued to my TV, gasping at everything, and crying "WHAAAAT OMG OMG" at the end of every episode?), so I'm sure going into it first time would require still more time and fortitude. (Actually, though, I have had quite a few friends who just got completely caught up with the past five seasons in the span of just a few weeks, and... wow. I didn't quite think that was possible. I mean, I think there are advantages to getting caught up ASAP, but at the same time I also think it's very much a show to be enjoyed over time, with some breathing space between episodes to let things process.)

Alex and Rousseau!! Wahhh!! It is so nice to see their faces, and yet...just seeing them makes me so angry that they got killed off. ARGH!

But then, to make up for it, we have... Penny and Desmond! The writers KNOW they're the epic OTP of the show; they had BETTER let them end up together happily ever after. Or else.

And finally: Jack is so much prettier when he's smiling, and not batshit crazy. Sometimes I forget!

I KNOWWWWWWWWW I MISS THEM SO MUCH. :( :( :( :( THAT PICTURE SLAYS ME EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT.

I have very few legitimate must-end-up-together OTPs on the show, but Penny and Des are definitely right at the top, enough to where I sincerely hoped they would just be written off the show after S4 because I just wanted them to have their happy ending and be done with it. My other MEANT TO BEs are Sun/Jin and Rose/Bernard, because apparently I can only ship pre-established married/engaged couples.

Aww, crazyjack can be fun, too. "KATE, DAMMIT, RUN!!!!!!" remains one of his UNF-iest moments as far as I'm concerned.

FOR. SERIOUS. Honestly I think it's a bit silly to read articles and stuff where people are like "what're the numbers?" and "what's the smoke monster?" because, seriously, by this point in time? I just don't think the show is going to come out and say "okay, right, here is the exact significance of all of the numbers/here is the exact psuedoscientific explanation of Smokey complete with diagrams" -- with those, I think there is always going to be some degree of ambiguity about their nature. It's not even that I've given up on hoping for an answer, it's that I don't think I need or want one. BUT THE GLASS EYE, COME ON. YOU CAN'T JUST THROW THAT OUT THERE. Or the Hurley bird! It's things like that that I get hung up on. (I was talking to my mom about this over the weekend, and the best analogy I could come up with was in Deathly Hallows, there were a MILLION AND ONE things to wrap up, some of which I cared about more than others -- but one of the few things I really really really wanted to know before the series ended, but didn't think

The ghost whose bloodiness we could NEVER KNOW ON PAIN OF DEATH who used to scare the hell out of Peeves, but WHY? WHY? -- and then in DH it was revealed that he had this obsessive love for Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter, who snubbed him, so he killed her and then himself. Oh and then she was the Grey Lady ghost, so basically there was this whole awesome ghost soap opera love tragedy going on in the background AND WE HAD TO WAIT UNTIL BOOK SEVEN TO HEAR ABOUT IT. Also I swear somebody vidded it using Guy/Marian clips, oh YouTube gods please tell me this vid is still alive... somewhere... Oh but anyway, it did actually have something to do with the A-plot of the diadem and... stuff... err, it's been a while since I read the book. :/

I have been obstinately, stupidly grumpy about this show for such a long time, but, I won't lie. For the first time in ages, this post roused a flicker of excitement in my cold, deadened soul!

Oh, Lost. Maybe you will win me over again. MAYBE.

I do understand why people have left the show behind and moved on to other things, and sometimes in the dead of night I will wake up in a cold sweat fearing that MAYBE I'M WRONG and it really will all end horribly auuuggghhhh -- but, I don't know, it's just so hard for me to abandon a fandom. :( (See: the fact that I watched all of RH S3 and still continue to play in fandom. Ahaha, my brain hates me.) But I'm glad this could rekindle a smidgeon of love, at any rate! -- because when it wants to be, the show is all about love and inspiration and human connectedness and d'awwwwww (um, okay, so possibly it hasn't been about those things since, say, the S2 finale, but I dwell in hope). I have to hope that all of my despair will somehow be rewarded. Plus -- and this probably seems like a silly thing to get excited about, because I think it's a point of annoyance for most people -- I think Lost does really really great new characters (still wrapping up S5, AND I LOVE EVERYBODY IN DHARMAVILLE SO MUCH. EVEN THE ONES I HATE), and I can't wait
