Ohhh, the rat was a pushover. The real creepy things around this area are the spiders that seem to magically appear in the strangest places. Although universally small, they come in all shapes and temperaments. One time, I was watching one on my ceiling and--for some mystical reason--he simply let go, falling to the floor but not before hitting two bookshelves on the way down. That spider scared the crap out of me at the time because he went ballistic once he was on the floor. He scattered back and forth like a dizzy kid who had spun in circles for a few minutes before finally disappearing behind the bookcase. Spiders are much more creepy because they can escape so much easier and you never know when, where, how or even if they'll return. Catching a rat was a welcome change of pace!
