So I went and 'shopped more Indian wedding outfits onto these guys because it's the closest you'll get to decent photo references as to what they would've actually worn at medieval Persian courts

I've been thinking the same thing a lot lately, re: being starved of beauty in one's own mainstream culture but being accused of all sorts of crap if you seek beauty elsewhere. Wish I had answers and not only the same complaints. :/
Nordic nature and traditional crafts inspired by Nordic nature do have beauty, to my eye anyway, but it's a very different sort of beauty, that of subtlety and simplicity. When you look way up north to the Sami, there's an abundance of colour, gold, silver, silk... but somehow ethnic Finns have always managed to look as colourful and adorned as your average potato.
The colours are as dull as the colours of Finnish nature, basically, never rising above it. That's the sad thing. It's all very sort of rusty and light and bland and bleak, so anything more colourful feels like such a splash of life in comparison
