Weird - I saw so many trailers for this show over the past week, and never even knew he was in it, since they didn't show him in any of the trailers I saw...

Still, it wouldn't have been my kind of thing, probably. (It was "grim oop north back in the days of flat caps and WW1?" What a shocker.)

And also after only 30 minutes sleep on Saturday night, the 12 hours I just woke from was more handy...

Decades from now, "it's grim oop noort and John Simm cries" will be hailed as an entire genre...

Still, I maintain the guy cries better than most people do IRL, so that's good at least.

I really loved it, lately I'm crazy about series and films about WWI even if I know they would make me suffer. Like you said, is nice having a show that can educate people in history with realism; it also seems that only British people can do that (because the last Spanish historic shows that I've watched, even if some are cool, aren't totally accurate and only talk about the rich people... anyway). But you're right, I don't know how I'm going to stand 7 (or 6? How much episodes have?) like this, because at the end I only wanted to kill Simm's character (and hug him, damn angst and damn tears and damn quality acting and FFFFFUUUUUUU ( ... )

Not *all* British shows are good and even the writer on this one is a bit overrated, I think--but yeah ( ... )
