Gan is needed

Jul 25, 2012 23:01

B7 dream cast nearly ready. But I seriously need myself a Gan. He's the only main character I'm now missing. And in my own personal remake, Gan would have way more character stuff (or at least hints of what happened to him) and he would be a strong, gentle guy (none of that "Gan was sekritly a rapist omfg" bullshit, thankyouverymuch). And I have no ( Read more... )

Whatshisface Adie? The Game of Thrones/Full Monty guy? There's Ray Winstone, but he's probably too tough guy.
Actually... Richard Ridings - he's huge and a real sweetie (met him at a con years ago). He's not been in anything recently that I'm aware of, but he was Silas in the Highlander series and he's had all sorts of bit parts in American movies and minor roles in British TV. I could see him as Gan, definitely.

Not sure who you mean by the whatshisface dude. And Ray is too old and too chubby these days, I should think--his glory days were as Will Scarlett in RoS, and he was perfect then. And again, Richard Ridings is too old and portly. I'd need someone who was stocky, so with a bit of flesh on his bones without looking like a bodybuilder, but not someone obviously crazily overweight either. So someone more Little John than Friar Tuck.

Hmm, maybe Steven Waddington? He can play a warrior-type guy and is an ok actor, but I'm still not sure if he's a giant...

Mark Adie - I think. Again probably too old.

Too many of the current decent-to-good actors are of the skinny-ish type. I can't think of anyone in the right age bracket at the moment, unless maybe you went younger again and there's the guy who's a Knight in Merlin and was Get-a-girlfriend-Jeff in Doctor Who. He's huge and kind of sweet, though it's not so apparent in Who, but it's more the swimmers-build huge than proper giant-type though he could maybe bulk up.

All I can think of I'm afraid... unless there are any rugby players that fancy turning to acting ;)

In the end, I went for Waddington. He seems about right. Picspam coming up.

I adore Dot Jones who plays Coach Shannon Biest in Glee. She's a big woman, very strong (she used to be a professional wrestler), she's a great actor, and she looks a bit like Gan's sister. :-)

Yeah, she'd get killed off early though. OK, for guys: how about Bruce Campbell (see the older pics there) or for an older but dead tough guy, Terry O'Quinn? He looked strangely Vila-like when he was young but it's hard to find photos from then. (I do have some on my HD.) He's an amazing actor, always rivetting in anything he's in.

[Edit] Oh bugger, I see they have to be British. [headdesk] OK, either Glenister. :-) Ash in Hustle is also very lovable and I think Gan should be.

Those are very strange choices, if I may say so o_O Both of the guys would be better as Travis! I love me some Campbell, but he's so not a gentle giant type, more of a fun badass. And yeah, I'd prefer no women or non-Caucasians because it'd suck if they were the ones to die first and telly has enough sexism and racism anyway. Can you think of any burly British dudes that would be more in the Jackson mould? 'cos I also thought of both Glenister brothers but I wonder if they are getting a bit too old and aren't big enough.

I don't get to see that much modern British TV so I'm a bit stuck. Yeah, the Glenisters are a bit old (and Martin Freeman's almost getting that way too, much as I love him). I'd probably second Mark Addy: big and also lovable.
