Gan is needed

B7 dream cast nearly ready. But I seriously need myself a Gan. He's the only main character I'm now missing. And in my own personal remake, Gan would have way more character stuff (or at least hints of what happened to him) and he would be a strong, gentle guy (none of that "Gan was sekritly a rapist omfg" bullshit, thankyouverymuch). And I have no idea who I'd cast, because that type of big burly gentle giant guy is so often a minor role and the actors don't really stick in your mind. I thought of gender/raceswapping him, but because Gan dies early, that'd be politically *really* iffy--I don't want to kill the black guy or the girl first. So it'd probably need to be a Caucasian fella.

And the thing is, I'm stumped. Some of these big dudes I'm thinking of are the sort of tough Cockney action movie guys in the Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham mould and I don't want those types of guys in the role. This would have to be someone strong and silent, burly but not obese, and over six feet tall in order to perform that scene in Breakdown where he basically wrestles the entire crew of the Liberator at once. So that leaves out one very good strong and silent and (despite his tough typecasting) gentle guy actor, Philip Glenister. I don't mean the Guv; I mean Glenister in the sense he was in Vanity Fair; gentle and chivalrous but strong and firm and solid. But he's probably just... not big enough.

Refresh my memory on big gentle bruisers, guys. They have to be British and under 50, preferably under 45, and big, hulking, stocky guys.

ETA: Think I've found my Gan. Picspam should be imminent.
