Purely hypothetical Devil's Whore question

This is by no means for a Sexby/Rainsborough fic nor am I attempting to write one, nope. This is puuuurely hypothetical. I am struggling with characters' names here. IRL or in the series? I could swear I've read about some of the familiar names the guys had for each other, but I'm drawing a complete blank and Google isn't helping.

In the series... had a vague memory they'd addressed each other at some point, though too hazy to think how.

AFAIK, Cromwell addressed them by their first names. That's one of the reasons why I'm dithering between the surname/first name thing, because being on a first name basis would be a Leveller sort of thing to do. Although this version of Sexby is so introverted he might be the only one still calling people by their surnames, to keep a polite distance. Whereas the real Sexby would probably have made it a political point to use first names in the name of equality. So it's tricky.

Basically, I'm leaning towards "mostly surnames, but very emotional scenes might slip into first names".

For the 17th century and men that aren't closely related to each other, that sounds about right to me. But I'm not confident enough that I'm correct to actually vote.

See, that's what I'd think, because it's the norm. But... Levellers. *scratches head*
