Back from holiday now so catching up on TV backlog.
Did they say what the party where the Guv got so drunk was? Because later I suddenly thought "Ohmygod what if it was Sam's funeral wake, and what really happened is that the Guv got so drunk he told Jackie all about his love for Sam, but no, that would make her a complete bitch for teasing him about that night, but hang on, no no, she's actually being kind to him, because she knows he'd be mortified if she told him what it was really about so she's come up with something that puts him on completely the wrong track to spare his feelings..."
It was some sort of nostalgia party, apparently. Hence the coat and stuff. But I LIKE YOUR THEORY. Because Jackie totally knows about the Guv's love for him. This makes sense.
Well, it could have happened whatever the party was, because it would be natural for the topic of Sam to come up if he'd just died/disappeared, and Jackie had already seen Gene's reaction when Sam was about to die in the siege.
Unless they all decided to dress up in what they were wearing when they first met Sam, cos nostalgia parties are usually for more than seven years ago. I've never actually been to a fancy dress wake, but... could happen.

I'm damaged though. I don't expect I'll ever again be able to hear the words "This is an outrage! without thinking of pink tentacles.
