Bah. Was supposed to do Stuff and Things this weekend. Like taxes and so on. At least I did cool random other stuff instead. I went out on Friday night with the flatmates and saw various entirely too-trendy clubs in the area (well, from the outside) before they finally settled on a bar (and non-drinking me who'd been along for the walk and chat

Honestly, I could barely stand 300. The battle scenes were pretty, even if they lacked tension (the Spartans kept winning too easily right up until they were betrayed). I could deal with the obnoxious politics (to protect freedom, you see, sometimes you have to ignore laws and just kick some butt). But the accents. How could I get drawn into that movie when the accents were so corny?

And as for the suicical hairdressers line... I recognize that. Are you another fan of Larry Gonick's cartoon histories?

Of course. Certainly where I remembered it from; Gonick's awesome. I believe that he has /already had another book coming out this year, to come after CHotU3? Good stuff.

I can forgive the Spartans winning too much simply because once you start losing with that few people, you tend to keep losing. Fair enough.
