Huh?

I had a strange dream last night...I've forgotten the plot, but I know it involved:
  • me as a cowgirl
  • a land border between Texas and Japan (wtf?)
  • train tracks smack in the middle of a cattle drive
  • triggering an avalanche on purpose
  • riding around on horseback

I have some old Ariats mouldering about somewhere from my barrel-racing days...but they're lace-ups, not the cool kind. The boots for hunter-jumper stuff were terrible--you had to have boot pulls to get them on, and someone else to help you get them off. :)

You used to barrel race? No shit? I'm impressed... do you still ride at all?

I did barrel-racing, and a little bit of dressage and show-jumping. I don't ride any more--I sold both of my horses before I went to college. I miss it a lot, but I really don't think I'll ever be able to afford it. :(

My family still has their place out in the country, and my aunt lives there now and has a ton of horses that she breeds and trains...so I can go ride sometimes.

Really? John didn't think the acquisition of a house and land was the best thing that happened in 2008? Cause if I'd bought a house last year, that'd be at the top of my list.

Ah, well. Here's to 2009 and the reign of Obama!

I guess Mr. Grumbles was a more profound emotional experience, or something!

I bought some new shoes to wear to the inauguration this weekend--I needed something comfy. I can't wait! :D
