Oh. Oh. This was lovely--opposite of lame, really. The part that broke my heart? Veronica was starting to catch on to her friend’s more annoying habits by now, and only got a twinge of fright. Duncan fell for it every time.

Aw, this was so sad. I loved the flashback to what life was like with Lilly. I think you portrayed her perfectly.

oh, wow. i could hear Amanda Seyfried's voice in my head every time Lilly spoke here, it was fabulous. you've captured everyone really perfectly here...this reads like these neat, very telling little snapshots, all in pool-and-ocean colours. (and i love the description of thejumpy flashback-pool-light on Lily's body) and the sentence "Duncan fell for it every time." had just the right weight to it.

also, out of curiosity, what song is "that's the shape i found you in" from? i've seen it used as a fic title in the Harry Potter fandom, and i've always liked the rhythm of it.
