One of my favourite problems is working out ways to help kids remember tricky words. My year 4 class is studying biomes and were writing deSSert for deSert so, we came up with "dessert is super sweet so has two ss. Desert has one s for sandy". I was 8 before I could spell my full name on account of it was spelled Throatwarbler-Mangrove but pronounced Luxury-Yacht. Kids seem to really struggle with 'beautiful' too, dunno why.
I added beautiful and he's like "I already know how to spell that" and yet he was mucking up the eau bit so it can stay there :P
I also added dessert and desert. Sometimes instead of asking a simple question, Mat makes everything more difficult so he spells "Could I please have d.e.s.e.r.t?" and we're like "you can't have it until you learn to spell it. Took him a while but I think it's one he won't be forgetting ;)
I'm noticing that it seems that the norm is now to spell forever as "for ever" and that irks me no end. I know language evolves, and obviously it's done that somewhere here and I am behind the times... but I can't bring myself to type it as two words. :/
I also realised I should put definitely on his list! Most people (including me up until a couple of years ago) spell that definately and I want him to get it right ;)

I wonder if you get my replies as an email? Probably not if you're anonymous?
Rebekah vomited last night too. :( She's barely eaten but is playing fine and enjoying herself. I'm not overly concerned, just wondering what's going on. Considered taking her to a doctor but figured they wouldn't give a stuff and would say it was a virus and she'll get over it and make sure to keep up her water so that's what I'm doing. I'm feeding her as she desires (which hasn't been much).
I had a real laugh at your second paragraph, spelling mistakes as mistakese. I know it was a typo but in the context it was just so funny :)
We were in a fish and chip shop yesterday (yes, naughty, I know) and they had painted up on their board SANDWHICHES" and it drove me nuts to the point of adding that word to Mat's spelling list :P

We spell certain words differently than y'all do. Hmmm...
Many people spell "a lot" as one word. Make sure he's not doing that. o_O
