Lazyweb! Book Survey! European history!

Jun 06, 2008 23:05

Popular history books or non-silly (or possibly silly, if it's good) historical fiction. Preferably European. Something with enough circulation that someone made an audiobook out of it.

If you are willing to go that extra mile, I'm asking because I want to know how to spend my Audible credits, so it won't much help if it's not on there ( Read more... )

Also because apparently there are 2 books on Australia, and none about New Zealand. (on Audible. That aren't romance novels.)

The Historian wasn't bad. And my favorite historical fiction of all time is Trinity by Leon Uris, but I don't think it's on Audible. I also hear great things about some book called Ireland, but I haven't read it. (Not quite European, but close)

Ireland is on the list of places to learn more about! Been reading lots of fiction set in Ireland and Jack just made me watch The Wind that Shakes the Barley so I'm real interested in the history too.

Too bad I wasn't so interested when it was my whole job to like, learn about it and take tests on it, right? :)

So, is The Thorn Birds not on Audible? That's a shame. I should really re-read The Thorn Birds. It's delightfully trashy. Australia, rich crazy people, and forbidden romance with priests!
