Where am I going to college?

Hell if I know. May 1st is in a week and I wish people would stop asking. Though I guess it's not their fault. Anyway, so here's the status quo on colleges:

It sounds like Carleton is the best fit. I'd go with that, despite the higher cost. I went out of state to a big school like I wanted, even though I knew I'd wrack up all sorts of debt. My family never had any money and was always in debt, though, so I was already used to the idea of owing money. lol

I don't regret the university I chose for a minute because those were the best four years of my entire life and really helped to shape me as an individual. The human aspect is what's most important, imo, so take that opportunity to grow in the environment that you feel is right for you and don't worry about the cost just yet. It's most important to ensure that you have a good foundation for when you're truly off on your own. It's no good to save money while stifling personal growth.

I don't know what it's like to live with any debt, let alone a huge one.Oh it's not so bad. Just...don't think about it too much. I owe something like fifty or sixty thousand in student loans. Five thousand or so in credit card debt and my credit score is ( ... )

I should add, DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD WHILE YOU'RE STILL IN SCHOOL.

Just don't. Bad, bad idea. No really, DON'T DO IT. Ignore the credit card tables that are set up and don't sign up even if they do offer you a free shirt or hat. I had to get credit cards in order to pay for books and whatnot, but if you can avoid it, please do.

If you steer clear of that, your credit will be OK.

Oh, but free shirts and hats are so appealing. :P

Really though, thank you for the advice! You are [as I probably said in the entry somewhere] the first person who's actually picked the expensive school [so your input is worth a lot]. I'm glad you don't regret it. :)

those are all really good schools so you don't have to worry about where you'll get a better education. i agree with the adults- loans sound really nasty : ( plus all that interest.

you'll have a great college experience no matter where you go. i went to a really boring high school and i still had a really great time : ) i think it's just up to you. it sounds really cheesy, but you just to take advantage of things. there are awesome people everywhere.

and you actually have to have a credit card to build up credit. just don't be dumb about it. you don't seem like a compulsive shoe-shopper though, so i think you'll be fine.

good luck!

You know, I wouldn't consider Paideia a boring high school, but I guess you know it best. :)

it's pretty boring. it's 400 kids and they're all voting for the same person x_x

Well, at least they're voting. I doubt I can say the same for my school.
