Oh lawd, Otherkin. Now I admit that my friends and I sat down and laughed over "okay if I was a Changeling/Vampire/whatever what type would I be?", etc etc, but it never occurred to any of us to make an rpg or videogame an vital part of the fabric of our respective existences.
Don't forget, in their world, labia=lips-on-mouth.
TREMBLE.
In a dark and terrible way, I can understand it. I mean, look at me, I'm the Sueist Sue that ever Sue'd on this god's green internet. Whatever floats your boat, just keep that boat WAY out of my harbor, or I'll keelhaul you and send you to Davy Jones' locker. Arr.
MY CHARACTER IS A UNICORN LIKE IN THE LAST UNICORN WHERE ALL OF THE UNICORNS WERE DRIVEN INTO THE SEA BY THE RED BULL ONLY MY UNICORN IS ACTUALLY A SIREN AND SEDUCES THE RED BULL AND LAUGHS WHEN HER SONG MAKES BOATS CRASH ON THE ROCKS BECAUSE SHE THINKS RED BLOOD STAINING THE WATER IS PRETTY oh god help me please.
STFU I HAVE BEEN RPING FOR 294875 YEARS AND ALL THE MODS LOVE ME SO NOW YOUR PIRATE HORSE HAS BEEN CAPSIZED AND I STEAL ALL YOUR GP AND THE RED BULL TURNS YOU INTO A VAMPIRE.
Because it's easy and lots of people like horses. Wolf RPs too. It's easy and many people sort of understand how dogs behave. And wolves behave like dogs except they have dignity. Or they like to think so
( ... )
But it's not about horses and wolves behaving like horses and wolves behave! They just wander around glens and streams looking impressive and not doing anything!
But yes, not highly skilled in the interpersonal department, noted and agreed.
It's also a very good point that animals are picky. Any domesticated animal that does not love everyone, that gets stressed or grumpy or overwhelmed or territorial and lashes out is "a bad ___", because it is certainly not the fault of the owner for protecting others others or the person for not respecting warning signs or common sense. Sigh.
I think horses are gorgeous, and like having them about where other people who like them can show them off. I like to pet them and feed them apples. However, that is a big animal and it knows that I know that it's very big, and therefore I will not bother it with having to carry me around. I will also not call it's neck a "viper" nor its legs "pillars". Respect the horse.
RPing horses and wolves not doing horse and wolf things is kinda boring. I could see the appeal maybe of playing "Quest for the Great Salt Lick" with the wolves trying to kill you all the way there but...I do sometimes play critters, the pets of my characters. But I try to not anthropomorphize them. Or it'd prolly annoy people more than it does.
Viper? Pillars? Not that the horse will care, it don't understand much in that paragraph except "Apples". And feeding apples is sometimes fun, yes. Except when it starts fights. Between horses. For a damn apple.

Horse RP hurts the brainmeats, so it does. I rode horses once upon a dream, and I never fell in love with them the way girls are supposed to.
