I really enjoyed seeing an angsty, unhappy Severus find his form *coughs* and unusual but magical happiness with Minerva as his "teenage" friend. Lovely!

My heart ached for him in his misery. How lovely that he found some release in the form of a cat. I've always thought that Minerva and he were friends. So nice to see him with her.

I really like the "feel" of this piece -- you've done a great job capturing Snape's moodiness and latent anger/resentment, not to mention his fierce independence. I love how the owls start looking out for him, and the students' keys are a great explanation of how Minerva always knew what was going on :) His friendship with the lovely little hufflepuff girl is so sweet, too! I have to call out a few favorite bits:

"I think a heart is best stored pickled in a jar ready for use in a potion." -- heh

"...you reserve the singular honour of driving me mad for yourself." - yeah I could see how Dumbledore would drive a person crazy lol

"...advise him that he weighs the same as a duck." - and is therefore... a witch!!!

"Defence of meals and drinks, potions for use against acne and weight gain, homemade wand oil… I will not leave them uneducated." He said softly, and Minerva laughed. -- Very Slytherin, I applaud ;)

I found this story amazing. Minerva let Severus down in the 7 yrs he attended Hogwarts so I'm glad he was able to forgive her and that they forged such a strong friendship as colleagues. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece. It was very moving ... sad in some and funny in others.
