I missed a life class somewhere and other complaints

Why can't I ever figure out how to be social in work-type situations?  Okay, I can manage it if the work is the kind that allows one to be social while doing it, but otherwise, I just show up and work.  It probably doesn't help that I have no idea what one talks about with unknown adult people, especially if they're women.  *sigh*

I know what you mean about not knowing how to be social. I think a lot of us Americans are exposed to this hyperactive work ethic idea, and when you're the kind of person who takes those lessons seriously, sometimes you end up paying for being "good"... (Assuming "you" are "me", I guess; I'm a little bitter...)

Yeah. Both of my parents are hyperactive workers and I guess I just absorbed it without noticing. Actually, I'm not quite as bad as they are, for all the good that does me.
