I was complaining to reccea that the whole serial killer angle really brings down the potential for Rossi/Prentiss rom-com stories, and she said,

"Rossi being stuck in a romcom would be hilarious. Prentiss would handle herself well but Rossi would be like "excuse me but why the fuck does random cute shit keep happening that both makes me run into Emily ( Read more... )

Oooh! I have never seen 27 Dresses. Is that the one where she's always the bridesmaid? Because that one might be just perfect. What's the guy's part in that one?

I love Much Ado About Nothing - apparently there's a BBC version with Damien Lewis as Benedick. There will be acquisition if I have to move to England to find it.

Also, OMG, you are genius with the wikipedia and the list and such. I'm actually wondering if the "getting knocked up" plotline might work best although it does deprive me of having Emily's mother ask when she's getting grandchildren.

Or not, if Emily decides to take matters into her own turkey baster.

Oh! She could ask Rossi to be contributor to turkey basting substance. He could balk, then agree, then things are strange, then no baby, they decide to do it the old fashioned way and hijinx and romance and comedy ensue.

And her mother can totally ask her in the beginning which is what sends her to the kitchen gadget section in the Target.

We may have a winner. This one is growing on me. I am not sure about the old-fashioned way, because then Rossi could not be alarmed that cutesy things keep happening and yet he fails to get laid. Because he IS getting laid. But I like the idea that maybe he ends up showing up at the wrong time and keeps getting roped into building cribs and painting nurseries and whatever....

This is funny, because I watched a Hallmark movie the other night (I just got cable, okay? It's the insanity of a new relationship.) where I was totally trying to figure out how to rewrite it with Rossi and Prentiss. This one, with Skeet Ulrich and Keri Russell. It's during WWII, she gets pregnant by some flight instructor, her pastor father insists she get married off, nice guy farmer from Colorado volunteers. It was actually kind of good.

But, you know, Emily gets pregnant, her mother the high-society maven is not impressed, arranges for old associate (and widower, after his first love tragically dies in an accident) Dave Rossi to step in. Emily does it, but is rebellious, Dave is bewildered and smitten, sparks fly, hot sex, the end.

Do I need to hide now?

You are so adorable. I'm laughing at you, but you are still adorable. :D This would make such a great AU. Even a modern-times AU. Also I definitely approve of "hot sex, the end." I need to learn to just write that instead of all that plot crap in the beginning.

May I suggest you watch Andy Richter Controls The Universe? It's not a romantic comedy, but it is a comedy that stars Paget Brewster, so...yeah.

Is it really funny? I watched all of Huff for her, but I haven't really looked into this one at all. I'll go looking for it. Thanks!

It's not as funny as Better Off Ted, but it's funnier (and warmer) than 30 Rock.

Cool! I think 30 Rock is pretty funny so I'll check this one out.

I have made no decisions yet!

I do love 10 Things I Hate About You, though. There might be too many other people involved, though. On the other hand, it's never been said that Emily doesn't have a younger sister out there somewhere - just that politics tears up families, so the younger sister showing up and demanding Emily get married for some old family will clause or something would be fantastic.

Clueless? I've never seen Criminal Minds so I have no idea what the Rossi/Prentiss dynamic is like. *g*

So, freakishly, I apparently am just finishing up a Rossi/Prentiss version of Emma/Clueless.

Rossi is kind of old and grumpy and a realist who has been married and divorced three times and is not really a fan of being "tactful" or "sensitive" or any of that new-age bullshit, but is kind of improbably gentle with Prentiss. She is a Vonnegut-loving nerd who is tough and sarcastic and has no brain -> mouth filter. Their dynamic is more friends than conflicting, but otherwise I'm not really sure how to define it.

The more important topic is ending that Criminal Minds dry spell for you. You are clearly missing out. lallybroch will back me up on this, I am sure. ;)
