Dreamwidth & Indecisiveness

Two great tastes that taste great together?

Sorry, I'm writing a 3-day take-home partnership tax law exam and it's clear that my professor is...possibly a little crazy.

Anyway, because DreamWidth is now open to the public, I figured I'd throw out a few of the things I've been thinking about and see what ya'll have to say ( Read more... )

dreamwidth, whining, lj, law school

Ooh, I was just looking at Dreamwidth, if it's not too late, I'd love a code. My email is jeez.louise11@gmail.com.

Yay! Thank you so much. I'm also of the "Shiny!" mindset about Dreamwidth. I am checking it out right now.

I agree about Dreamwidth, they gave me an invite code as I had signed up with an Open ID. I'm not sure yet what I'll use it for but I wanted one! I was surprised to get an invite code as I didn't realise I would just from having the open id but there you go!

I hope subchapter K is going well!

Did your OpenID invite code just change your existing account from OpenID to full DW? I am wondering because the invite code I used was a gift from someone and maybe that's why I can't smush the circles together.

I am considering using it as a fannish home vs. a RL home? But my LJ is far more fannish than RL anyway, so I'm not sure that works as well.

Subchapter K is um. Going? :D Oh, finals. Please be over soon.

Yes, my DW invite code just made my OpenID account into a proper DW account. So I'd assume that the 'non smush' issue stems from there somewhere!

If I can find anyone who knows how you may be able to merge the accounts together I'll let you know.

Re #2, it's simply a matter of setting another account as the one you plan on cross-posting to, clicking a box and from that point on it'll automatically cross-post to your LJ too.

iJournal does that? Last time I looked I thought it wasn't that sophisticated.

No, sorry. I've got a Mac too and I've never found an easy way (through iJournal or anything else) to cross-post. The method I described is what you can do through your Dreamwidth account.

Gotcha! Go Dreamwidth! I will have to give this a whirl and see how it works for me. Thanks!

Your Dreamwidth link is borked.

It all sounds good, but I don't have any new ideas to share at this time -- I've got two LJ accounts (this one and a free one), so not feeling the need to add another journal thingy. Don't have TEH HATE as some folks do, though. More like... "*shoulder shrug* Good luck, hope it takes off."

Should be fixed now.

Yeah, I think I am feeling the Dreamwidth thing more acutely because it is kind of a fandom project and a lot of the people I know through fandom are migrating or at least cross-posting. I haven't seen much hate going around; just some concern that the whole invite code thing was kind of exclusionary - but I remember when LJ ran on invite codes too, so I'm kind of zen about the whole thing.

I thought about making DW more fannish and LJ more RL, but all the RL people on my flist are pretty fannish themselves and knowing me, I'd be posting the wrong thing to the wrong journal all the time. :)
