We are using the Valley of Death icon for my favorite flash drive which is has malfunctioned and is no longer recognizable to either George OR Gracie. I considered having a meltdown about this last night, since it is 128MB of resumes, fanfic, and assorted other things, but I recently emailed myself my latest resume and writing sample, and most of ( Read more... )

Thanks! I tend to email reccea or raisintorte as soon as I write something and I emailed my updated resume to myself the other night so I think I've only really lost some saved driving directions, some old work stuff, and my log of law school application stuff. The only things that were likely lost on the fic front were a handful of chats I had with various people about how some stories were likely to go and maybe a few false starts that I saved in case I could use them elsewhere.

At least I hope. :P *hugs you back*

I'm glad to hear that! Losing something you've written is so depressing. (My nearly-three-year writer's block started with a computer crash that took my then-WIP with it - after that, I just couldn't seem to get back into writing.)

*hugs some more*

It is a Sandisk. And it is like, two years old and has been used and abused and soldiered on. But Marlowe's been interested in chewing on it, and I lost the cap so the contacts have been exposed to the open air (because I have to unplug it and put it in a drawer to keep it safe) so I probably should have seen this coming.

It's now chilling in the fridge. In a few minutes, I'll pop it out, clean the heads, and see if I can get it to work long enough to shuttle everything onto one of the hard drives.

Thank you!
