having a body deficiency is always a comfort in lew of brain deficiency. Brain chem's are so not understood, but body chem's have been studied for many many many more years -- more exacting science. When I went on Synthroid, I was stunned at how important a little lump in my throat was to how I felt and my ability to think coherent thoughts.

Everybody knows at least one kid in school who "has a gland problem". Most kids who have the gland *story* have more of a problem with their mom's clean plate club than their "gland", but society still associates thyroid problems with being overweight -- absolutely regardless of the fact that weight is only one of more than a dozen problems an out of whack thyroid can cause. When my thyroid crashed, I had such a lack of energy and coherent thought that I LOST 8 pounds in 3 weeks because COOKING required too much energy; when I did eat -- I would be too exhausted to finish after 4 or 5 bites at most. Get your thyroid checked!!!
