Northern Migration, Pt. 1-The Usual Comedy of Errors…

Aug 14, 2010 19:20

Of course, since this is me that we’re talking about here - terminal chaos-magnet that I am, things with the move didn’t go as smoothly as planned. First, I found out that my family wouldn’t be able to help me much with the move. Usually when one of us moves, we get a U-Haul & everyone who can goes along to help unload the truck. Then my brother ( Read more... )

SOME Super8's have Wifi, others just say they do...Motel 6's are advertizing that they have it, but obviously, not exactly now.

Your car insurance is required to pay for your windshield replacement, but it may have to be done at a dealership: not sure. What I am sure of is that if your seatbealt fails to work as expected (mine won't retract), the dealership is by law required to put a new one in at NO charge to you.

Best wishes for the rest of the trip, and for settling in!

At least with my insurance, it doens't have to be done at a dealership. What may be tricky is that I'm in ND & my agent is in Erie, but I'm pretty sure they've go State Farm here, too. I believe they're national.

Mercury is just stationed right now, not actually retrograde, but it's close enough to be annoying. Time for maintenance!

If you have Comprehensive on your car insurance, your company should replace the windshield without any deductible.

Sorry to hear so many troubles came up in the rather protracted [getting there] month. Glad you're there safe and sound now. Hopefully everything will arrive safe and sound on Monday. Hope the camping expedition isn't too horrible...

You are correct. Someone mentioned it was retrograde and I didn't bother to check. Supposed to go retrograde on the 20th.

If it's not retrograde yet, then this will be a bad one. I've seen lots of cars on the side of the road and really stupid drivers.

Ah, Mercury. It's such a pain in the ass.

I don't believe in such as thing as a "bad" Mercury retrograde. What I do believe is that if you fight the current -- it will go badly.

I see Merc.℞ as a time to stop focusing "outside" and do internal maintenance that has been otherwise neglected. Whether that means getting back into yoga classes, seeing your doctor, paying better attention to your diet, fixing the one part on your car that you know damn well could take 6 other parts down with it if left too long, defragging your computer to prevent your harddrive from dying when you demand way too much of it in its crippled state, etc. -- whatever you've been neglecting and know damn well you've been neglecting -- Merc.℞ is the PERFECT time to take care of [TRULY important things you neglected because regular daily distractions SEEMED more important].

By daily distractions -- I don't mean unimportant things, not at all, just things that sucked up all of our time that we could have been doing maintenance ( ... )

*hugs you lots* and super 8's have a good breakfast usually. we frequented them when possible on my hellacious cross country move a few months ago. and business centers where you CAN get online if you do NOT have a laptop, which i do not.

I hate when gravel makes a dent in the windshield...Had a mini-flashback when I read what happened :-/ That ranks up with the time I hydroplaned on the highway for Stuff That Scared Me While Driving.

I haven't done any real hydroplaning but I've had some really bad wrecks during blizzards & in that really slippery icy, slushy crud. Not fun.
