This past weekend was the Spring 08 Chenille Retreat at Tredara & it was a blast. I love hanging out with the other women of ADF & talking about what all of us are working on. I, too, am a pagan who is bad with plants. It seems Deeply Wrong somehow to be thus... still, I'm good with beasts. and metal.

Yeah, Mom yelled at me when she went on her last vacation because I completely forgot to water all her plants so they were half-dead when she got back. :-P

I agree completely about the Outsiders... I very much dislike an Outsiders offering that is done as a combatant towards an enemy. Still I think it is important to do an offering.

In my own ritual I state my purpose fisrt thing and follow that immediatly with an offering the outsiders where I clearly and professionally ask them to step aside for the rite if they are not ok with the purpose.

One of the strongest impressions I have ever had in ritual is when one of the outsider nature spirts (I specifically ask spirits who have been harmed or are frightened to go their way) and I felt one of them slink back and set next to me during the rite. It was a wonderful feeling to feel as if I made contact and maybe even offered healing to this spirit.

But one thing I did make a point to bring up is that I've felt a number of times that when people were trying to force the Outsiders out, that they were considering me one of the Outsiders & that I've known other people who've felt the same thing (some of whom read this blog). I commented that in some cases, I think it was wording & in others it was definitely attitude. Folks were surprised.Thank you for bringing that up, because I have felt very much the same, often, and I've tried to explain it to my grovemates but they just don't seem to get what I am saying. They're like, "But it's not you! It's the forces of chaos & darkness that we are trying to not have ( ... )
