SNAG, Pt.1

Jun 18, 2007 20:58

I caught my flight out of Erie with no problems, made the mad dash across the Detroit Airport without incident (with its amazingly atmospheric & weird connecting concourse that I really enjoy going through), & landed in Memphis, this year with the added advantage of my luggage arriving with me. T landed the same time I did, but on a different plane ( Read more... )

I was indeed at SNAG in Chicago last year.

I didn't get to meet Tom, although I was keeping an eye out for his name (I don't know what he looks like which makes it harder). I didn't go to the educational dialog- I watched some demos (including a wonderful one by Mary Lee Hu on different types of woven chains) then wandered over to Beale Street.

It would have been cool to actually meet you there. We'll just have to make sure we both go to Savannah next year! ;-)

I hear you on the cash- and on not wanting to see your ex at the moment. Sometimes, you just need to save yourself the drama. I think I rode the shuttle with that German boy. He certainly was a tall, skinny German student, anyways. Had a degree in "Color" from his school in Germany, his friend said. I don't remember what his name was, though.

I think they said the year after next it's in Philly. Then the year after that it's in Texas- I can't remember if it's Austin or San Antonio or somewhere else. (I'm thinking there was an A, though).

Oh, I want to see your damascene book work! When we went to Toledo a couple of years ago (not the one in Ohio :), we were surrounded by damascene all over the old city. Love the stuff.

Darn that LJ! :-D

I'm toying with doing a book of hand studies, in a variety of techniques & media, from damascene to a variety of enamels to printmaking to painting. Hands are important symbols in my work so that seams like a good place to start. :-)

That all sounds so cool! I really need to get to one of those conferences one of these years.

But now I'm all worried about insurance, even though I *think* our biz insurance covers my studio... *frets*

With business insurance, you're probably safe. That was one of the big points of the presentation, in fact-- that as a business, even a home studio needs business insurance. Too many of rely on homeowner's insurance, not knowing that it won't cover things used for a home-based business.

And yes, you should go to SNAG! Wait until you read about the rest of the conference. Sooo much fun! Next year's Savannah & I believe the year after that is Philly. :-D
